I dabbled withwatercolour and pastel pencils a long time ago and at least managed to be reasonable enough for Fran to allow me to get 2 of my drawings framed and up on a wall. Since then I’ve done nothing.
However, after a year of playing with Affinity Designer on the iPad last week I dusted off my ‘real’ art tools and started all over again.
First attempt was a simple Robin drawing in mainly pencil. It was ok but I don’t think the Just Stop Oilers will be throwing tomato soup at it any time soon.

I then switched to gouache to attempt my little chiffchaff

Then yesterday I attempted a gouache blackbird on a black canvas I’d bought last week.

Despite one of my ‘friends’ saying ‘well the branch is good’, I was quite pleased with the outcome.
Oh, and if you’re wondering about my painting palace, we bought a pop up dome to protect us from the rainy summer we’re having,

Hopefully on the art front we will improve quickly, and the dome, which comes with the glasses of wine 🤣, will survive the wind.
