Cameras – Sony RX 10 update No. 2

The weather’s not been too great so I’ve not ventured far this week. I have been plittering with my RX 10 around the house and garden though. I’ll take pictures of anything in the hope I’ll turn into a nice photo of sorts and this weeks been no different. So as well as testing my Sony on birds I’ve been photographing raindrops on the washing line!

So first comparison…………, iPad Pro vs RX 10 taking a zoomed in shot of the abandoned house across the hill.

I know the iPad Pro wasn’t going to wan that battle but given the distance the ruin is away I’m amazed the little RX 10 did that.

My next aim was my favourite subject, birds. My Nikon D810 has taken nice photos of birds but its 150 – 600 mm lens is huge and needs a tripod. So, what would the RX 10 do without a tripod?

There’s a little Jenny Wren that skips round our patio area especially after a rain shower. It would be a good easy place to start!

With poor light twenty feet away through a double glazed window Jenny Wren was looking good.

One thing I played around with was setting up a pre programmed setting. I followed a You tube video aimed at capturing birds and it was easy. Even changing exposure and frame per second rate was also easy!

Add in no bulky lens to mount or carry I was thus far pleased with my new toy.

One morning the sun actually came out. Yes, I know. Scotland. How could this be 🙂

I ventured out into the yard and pointed at a few things.

I soon caught this little blackbird in one of our chimney pots.

Then quite a distance away this sparrow.

I was starting to get excited by the flexibility of this little camera!

That afternoon a thrush landed on a post near the patio.

It even turned its head right round to see me 🙂

I can see you Dave 🙂

I then got as close to capturing an in focus picture of a fast moving bird taking flight.

Here we go

In just the few days I’ve had the camera I am impressed with its versatility. Hopefully by the time the even faster housemartins arrive in May I’ll be ready for them. 🙂

Love to hear comments and questions. More next Wednesday as I take photos of washing lines. 🙂
