I’ve always had a notion to work in design or marketing. The marketing courses I’ve been on simply reinforced my enthusiasm. The 4 p’s ( that’s all I can remember) price, place, promotion and product. There, it’s easy.
It’s also easy to criticise businesses or their products but if it was that easy why don’t I do it myself. Simple reason. It’s not as easy as it looks. From whoever at adidas who decided to change the material and sole of their trainers making them suicidal to wear during a light rain shower in Sydney as they turn into ice slippers, to the local restaurant who insisted in having the largest menu in the universe to the designers of the Boeing 737 Max 9 it can be a nightmare to design, market and sell a product.
So this week I’ve played at starting a T-shirt design ‘company’. I like playing with my iPad Pro and the Apple Pencil. I also love the affinity suite of software graphics and publishing products.
So………. to start my pretend T-shirt company I needed a brand. Since I had no marketing team I sat for five minutes and came up with orangedot.com. I then decided I should check whether that name was already in use. I quickly found the Orangedot bakery existed,
I gave up on that and swiftly created HotOrange. I checked whether anyone used that name or did hotorange.com exist.it seemed ok.
I then created some text plus a little logo

We were off and running _
In 2 days using affinity designer 2 on the iPad I’d created the following designs

Now that’s been a whole 4 days. If I get some printed would anyone buy them. No idea. I know a company that’ll print a minimum order of 25. I might try it. 🤣
Let me know if you like them
